You will learn the tools to understand what liability exposure local agencies in Pennsylvania have for personal injury and property damage in premises liability and motor vehicle claims.  Our panel will explore when a local agency can be sued under the Pennsylvania Tort Claims Act.  Exceptions to this immunity that will be discussed include: streets, sidewalks, traffic controls, real property, motor vehicles and utilities. The panel will also discuss the statutory limitations on damages that plaintiffs may receive based on the type of injury claimed.  Illustrations from prior cases will be used to illustrate local agency liability.
