Program Description:  This program will look at several types of phenomenal events – specifically, vapor cloud explosions, pressure vessel bursts, boiling liquid expanding vapor explosions (BLEVE), and dust explosions – that are generally referred to as explosions or pressure vessel ruptures. By understanding the circumstances necessary for specific types of explosions and ruptures to occur, an insurance producer can determine the relative probability of such an occurrence based on the vessels and chemicals present.  Additionally, measures can be taken up front to minimize – if not prevent – severe bodily injury or massive property damage.  This program will also address the recent fire explosion at the R.M. Palmer Company in West Reading.
